The poor mans horse.

Swissys were originally used by farmers, dairymen, and butchers (and I'm sure other professions too) to pull carts full of goods from place to place. The breed was dubbed "the poor mans horse" because they could pull the same ratio of weight to body weight as a horse and they ate a whole lot less, and when they were done pulling the brought in the flocks, protected the farm, loved on the family, and kept beds warm I'm sure. They were a true multi functional dog, and still are. This week Ray finally finished my mothers day gift for me and I am so excited to use it!

This was the first time Cinna had been hooked up to the cart and she didn't even bat and eye. Isn't it so pretty?! She will not be pulling any weight until after the puppies are born but I am going to have her get used to being hooked up and having it roll behind her. It was our first attempt at building our own cart with no plans and there are some things I would change, but I think it will work pretty great for training. I'm as giddy as a school girl with a new toy. :-) I only had Cinna stand in the shafts for the picture but I will take some video when we actually get moving.
By the way, Cinna is still super hormonal and we all swear she is starting to show a little bit of tummy when she sits and lays down. Her ultrasound got re-scheduled for the 19th and I will try and post the results right when we get home that day.
We hope you are all having as much fun with summer as we are!
